The Sorcerer's Apprentice: Movie Review

Hello everybody.  It's Emmanuel again, with another movie review on the latest Disney movie.  Who has seen the new Disney movie, The Sorcerer's Apprentice?  It was just released on Wednesday, July 14.  This new move showed a series of action, adventure, summer romance, and magic all combined to make what Jon Turteltaub and Jerry Brukheimer are made of.  It was released two days earlier from its original date, July 16.  Although it is Rated-PG, I don't really recommend this movie for younger audiences for its mild violence, mild language, and mild humor.  I only recommend this for those that can handle it like ages (9 through)10 and older who could also understand the story.  I loved the idea for what these characters in the movie are fighting for what they believed in.  Also the summer romance has been hitting everybody for a college kid and a sorcerer.

I still remember when I saw Fantasia and my favorite was when Mickey was the sorcerer's apprentice.  The scene, the story, and the orchestral music really blended.  It's hard to imagine that the cartoon kept in touch with the real world until today.  With all of the things I have mentioned before, the technology made it come alive.  The shifting cars, alive gorgoyles, real dragons, dragons that turn into a ring, bull statues come to life, cleaning mops and brooms, and all of the magic are all in this movie.  It reached 95% of my expectations and my head calculating the movie up to 4.5 stars.  This really is the "coolest job ever."

World of Color Review

What's up everybody.  Just came from a weekend at Disneyland Resort.  I took a long rest and I am finally back.  If you want to know what I did during the vacation, you can go to my Twitter account.  I went there mostly because I wanted to see the new water spectacular, World of Color, that is now showing in Disney's California Adventure Park.  On the night of the show, I had a slight headache, but I didn't feel very well. I just took a Tylenol and headed back to the park from the hotel because I knew that it would be worth watching it and I went to Disneyland Resort just for it.  In the end, the show was higher than my expectations and it was definately was worth it.  I was lucky to buy the World of Color Picnic Meals since it came with reserved tickets and I got the best seats.

As I took the best seats, the lights went black all of a sudden and in front of me, water, color, and fire danced.  This new show that premiered to the public on June 11, 2010, this was my first opening year show in Disneyland Resort.  I couldn't believe it.  World of Color showed a lot of emotion, joy, and heart as it shows snippets from old and new classic Disney movies along with effects like fire and "colored" water.  My family and I really enoyed the show too.  The water really has feeling to its movements along with the story.  It shows love, joy, adventure, mystery, anger, and depressed.  The music was also another thing too.

As World of Color gets more popular everyday, you could hear the OOOOHs, the AAAAAAHHs, the gasps, the hoots, and the hollers.  You could even hear people rom different ages name the movie or the characters as they watch the show.  If not, they would usually cheer.  I definately, really, definately, (to emphasize really) loved this show.  It is absolutely amazing.  The Imagineers also said that what ever they didn't come up with yet, will happen in the future.  For viewing spots you could, buy the picnic meal along with reserved seating tickets, get a FastPass at Grizzly River Rapids, have a reservation to Ariel's Grotto or Wine Country Trattoria along with preffered viewing tickets, or find seats around Paradise Bay (not guaranteed for satisfaction).  Hope you guys will experience this new water spectacular.

Toy Story 3: Movie Review

As I saw Toy Story 3 last night, I was expecting a lot as it has been 15 years since the very first movie of the series.  The film met every one of my expectations.  (In this review, I will try my best not to reveal any spoilers.)  As I took my 3-D glasses off in some scenes just to see how it wuld look, some scenes in the movie are not neccessary for 3-D, but the 3-D still isn't bad.  It showed a lot of heart and emotion that just made the third of the series brilliant and emotional.  Ever since the very first movie, Toy Story really does give the "toy" view and their real hard struggles for their owners.  It is very true what Pixar and Disney said, "A toy can be lost, but it could be found.  A toy could be broken, but it could be fixed.  When a toy gets stolen, you can recover it."  In Toy Story 3, "But you can't fix the outgrown by the child."

I have read a few other reviews that the movie, Toy Story 3, shows a very dark side and is not recommended for little kids.  I agree and disagree to that comment.  I do agree that it shows a little bit of darkness in the movie and it is not recommended for smaller viewers.  Because it is rated G, it doesn't mean it guarantees it is for younger viewers, so it is perfectly fine.  For every movie in the Toy Story series, there is always a villain in every movie.  Toy Story had an evil boy.  Toy Story 2 had an evil toy that experienced not being played with or admired through many years.  Toy Story 3 had an emotional toy that went through a lot as the toy was being replaced and his heart was broken with anger.

The story really does leave off perfectly as your old characters from the first two movies are back while some are sold to other owners.  It shows how an outgrowth of a boy turns and goes to college.  As I heard and read that many of the things in the movie were based on the real feelings and actions by the people who created the movie.  That's what makes Disney and Pixar nothing like any other animated companies.  I loved the film very much.  It shows that friendship can never be broken apart.  No matter what.  This is what makes people want to watch the movie again.  Toys who struggle through their life, facing obstacles that keep their way from Andy, and the heart and emotion of a toy that just makes you want to cry.  In the end of the movie, I just thought to myself, "Has it been 15 years of this great story?"  I really wanted to see it again.  I even brought my parents just to have them regain the memory when they took me to see Toy Story.  I wanted to cry, but I hardly blinked through the movie and I still wore the 3-D glasses so my eye was dry.  It really does bring memories that connect with the audiences in our world.  I also felt guilty for waiting this long for a great movie.  I completely recommend this movie and give it 4.78 stars.  From then on I knew that, "No toy gets left behind."

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

What's up everybody.  Just found out that on December 10, 2010, the third movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader will be coming to theaters.  The weird part is that the company making this movie is Fox 20th Century Pictures.  It sort of saddens me and wonder why it wasn't the Walt Disney Pictures making this.  I'm going to check more on the web for more info, but if you guys have anything that you know about this, please comment.  Thanks and see you later.

ATTENTION!!:Disney Archives Chief Dave Smith Retires

According to LA Times and D23, Disney Archives chief, Dave Smith, announces retirement. He has been working in the Disney Archives for 40 years from the beginning when he opened on 1970. His purpose was to keep Disney alive and to show people the view of Walt Disney's perspective. He has kept the official/original objects from art of Disney's classic movies to the actual desk from Walt Disney's office where he sat and thought himself. We are going to truly miss Dave Smith.

Fantasmic!: The History and the New

It was in 1992 when Disneyland premiered a new nighttime spectacular that everyone would gather around Rivers of America until today. Fantasmic! has been one of the biggest show and long-running one too. 23 minutes running for 18 years today. It even took months to build an elevation system for the Maleficent dragon. Even the mist screen, fireworks, and fire was outstanding for the guests of Disneyland. The first name they came up for the show was "Imagination" but as they recalled Fantasia and all the wonders of it the storyline was built better and became to what we know today. But they still kept the melodic theme song "Imagination" if you listen to the lyrics closely.

It wasn't really a surprise when the show went national on 1997 as the Disney-MGM Studios (now changed and known today as Disney's Hollywood Studios) announced that they would have their own version of Fantasmic! with new characters, new features, and new technology. This became everyone's favorite show everywhere.

As Fantasmic! got even more famous, the crew and the Imagineers added more features in Anaheim's show including the Mark Twain Riverboat and the Columbia Sailing Ship added and allowing rides for the guests. Last year, they made a new Maleficent dragon that shows a 3-D feature that breathes fire from its mouth. They also added new characters like Ursula's eels and a new looking crocodile for the Hook scene. The crew thought that this show would only last for 5 years. The crew and the Imagineers are back with new people to work on Disneyland's new show, World of Color, but that's is another story(check blog post "Disneyland Trip 20th-22nd/World of Color" and for upcoming posts).

Fantasmic! has officially gone global as the show is going through construction in Tokyo DiseySea at Tokyo Disneyland in Mediterranean Harbor.With the new technology from World of Color, there will be new feature like bigger mist screens and a bigger dragon. Disneyland Trip this July/World of Color

Coming this July, I will go back to Disneyland for my 20th-(possibly)22nd visit. Not only is it Summer Nightastic in Disneyland, but I am only there for one reason. The new nighttime spectacular,World of Color, that started on June 11 at Disney's California Adventure. World of Color was brought back from the idea of Walt Disney's original T.V. show, The Wonderous World of Color. The night show will combine lights, water, color, and fire. It will also feature Disneyland's classic technology with the mist screen. Make sure you see your favorite characters in the show too. 2010 Summer Nightastic

In both, Disneyland and Walt Disney World, will rock the night in a new light. There will be new features added to Magic the Fireworks Spectacular including Peter Pan. The Electrical Parade is back in Main St. U.S.A. at Disney World and new technology on the Twilight Tower of Tower ride. A 40-foot dragon is added to the show, Fantasmic!, in Disneyland to make a realistic, 3-D dragon. One more thing that everyone is talking about is the new show, World of Color, featuring in Disney's California Adventure. It is Summer Nightastic in Disney Parks.

Monsters Inc. Sequel

If you remember in my old post, Monsters Inc. 2?, I said that I heard rumors of Monsters Inc. 2 and that I would try to prove that it is true. Well, on April 22, 2010, Disney and Pixar just announced the news that there will be a sequel to Monsters Inc. that will be released on November 16, 2012. It's a long way to go, but at least ther will be one.

We Remember Disney Legend: Fess Parker

Fess Parker was the Disney legend who played as the biggest star who started on 1954 that made a big hit in the start, Davy Crocket. He died on March 18, 2010 at the age of 85 and as a big part of the Disney family.

Alice in Wonderland: Review and Movie Going Facts

Alice in Wonderland was hugely amazing. Tim Burton brought in his own wonderful imagination of his Wonderland. It is the sequel-like movie to the original cartoon and storybook. The 3-D made it like you were literally in the movie. It is action-packed and adventurous. Especially the "Rabbit Hole" scene when you fall down, everything is coming your way and you really experienced it. It is the best family and action movie of March. It is said to be the #1 movie in the world and has been a box-office hit for more than two weeks. It's average star rating is 2.5 stars but plenty of people like me will rate this 5 stars.

Kids' Choice Awards 2010 Tonight

As you know for all of the kids, their usual favorite awards show is truly, The Kids' Choice Awards, tonight at 8:00 where there is more slime and more noise. I know this is not Disney, but plenty of Disney stars, movies, and shows are nominated for an award and you could cheer them on. A few nominees are Miley Cyrus, hidden Disney star Taylor Swift, Disney Pixar Up, The Suite Life on Deck, Hannah Montanah, Phineas and Ferb, Dylan Sprouse, Cole Sprouse, and plenty more. Hope you guys see it on Nickelodeon tonight.

Oscar Night

Last night was the 82nd Acadamy Awards. It was great for Up and The Princess and the Frog. I just want to list Up's nominations:

Sadly, The Princess and the Frog did not win any awards, but it is still a great honor to them to make it this far. Up has won the Oscar awards for Original Score and Animated Feature Film.

Captain Eo

Are you a Michael Jackson fan? Yes, Michael Jackson. Michael Jacson used to be in a short film, Captain Eo from George Lucas and Disney in the 1980s. Two days ago, Disneyland started showing the film Captain Eo at the Tomorrowland Theatre in 3-D. It is very popular that fans even stayed up 6 hours before the gates opened at Disneyland. If you also noticed in the news that morning, there were plenty of people that it crowded from the entrance of Disneyland Resort to Tomorrowland. It will be screened for a limited time as long as it's popular.

Walking Sleeping Beauty

For all disney fans who wants to learn more about the Disney history or just watch it for fun, this is your chance. On March 26, Walking Sleeping Beauty is a documentary (yes, I know it might be boring, but it will be a good film for all ages) about the struggle of Disney during 1984-1994 that turned out to be a success like The Little Mermaid (check on my other post). Yes, there is a fourth movie that I found out called, Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides. It's coming to theatres on Summer 2011. There's not much information other than that, but I found this on, www.disney.com/disneypictures.

Up and The Princess and the Frog

You may know the 2 movies that we all love, Up and The Princess and the Frog that has touched many hearts including plenty of Disney fans. Up really explained that nothing is impossible and that a good life is enough of an adventure. It has been raved by critics around the world it has plenty of action and adventure which is definately good for the whole family.
Now, Disney's The Princess and the Frog shows a whole new world of fantasy, adventure and comedy which makes perfect for the family. Disney has a tradition of movies that has people wish on a star, but The Princess and the Frog tells a lesson that only wishing on a star helps you along the way. You need to do the work hard to reach the goal, which introduces Tiana who works her hardest to get her own restaurant like she and her father wanted. That's also what gave Disney another idea that shows that serving food make people happy and come together to be happy.
It is now great that Up and The Princess and the Frog are Golden Globe Nominees for "Best Animated Feature" along with other two different animated movies.

The Little Mermaid: The Success that Almost Didn't Happen

There was a day that the company decided for people to tell their ideas to actual producers and directors called a "Gong Show." That was 20 years before 2009 when an idea almost didn't happen. The idea was given by a man named Ron who was supposed to give 5 ideas like everyone else, but Michael Eisner (Disney Chairman and CEO) and Jeffrey Katzenberg (Disney Studio head) had to go. Ron gave the idea of The Little Mermaid and the gong rang. Jeffrey thought it was just like Splash and the idea was rejected. After a couple of weeks, Jeffrey called Ron and the idea was brought back. For years, Disney Studios worked for years for the perfect movie of The Little Mermaid became a huge success. In 1990, The Little Mermaid won Academy Awards for Original Music Score and the song "Under the Sea" won for Best Song. In the wrap-up party, Jeffrey made a speech of the things he got talked out of that he wanted for the movie like he wanted Ariel to not have red hairand to cut the song "Part of Your World" out of the movie and he was sorry and admitted he was wrong since it might have affected the movie. This huge success nearly didn't happen and it is still well-known today.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New year

Sorry I have been gone for nearly a month. I was watching plenty of old Disney cartoons even some are black and white like "Steamboat Willie." Anyway, it's the new year especially Disney fans. So far, we have plenty of Disney movies and shows coming to the big screen and to Disney Channel, Disney XD, ABC, and ABC Family (Disney acquired or bought ABC and ABC Family in 2005). So far, coming to the big screen are Alice in Wonderland, The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Toy Story 3, and The Sorcerer's Apprentice. There are much more and also you may have heard that there will be Camp Rock 2: Final Jam. I will post about these later in 2010.It is a new year for Disney fans and the only question is:
